Awarded 2024 NYSERDA Quality Solar Installer – Platinum Status Designation

Putnam Lake Fire Department Stoked on Solar Power

Putnam Lake Fire Department’s burning desire for a sustainable, renewable energy system is being realized with the help of New York State Solar Farm (NYSSF). Michael J. Ercole, Sr., President of the Fire Department, and the general membership have worked diligently to develop the partnership with NYSSF and bring the project to fruition. NYSSF will be installing a photovoltaic (PV) solar system 42 kW / 150 panel system in May, 2015. This system will generate 77% of the energy needed by the Fire Department. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) allows the Fire Department to purchase 100% of the energy produced by the solar system for the next 15 years, with no upfront costs.

By replacing energy that would otherwise be produced from burning fossil fuels, the system will reduce carbon emissions equivalent to taking 199 cars off the road over its lifetime. The project’s carbon savings can also be thought of as not using 5.4 tanker trucks of gasoline or not using 14.4 rail cars of coal; every solar energy project is truly significant.

New York State Solar Farm (NYSSF) is a PV solar installation company headquartered in a sustainably restored building in Modena, NY.
