The feeling is almost indescribable. When we sit at a homeowner’s kitchen table, discussing SunPower, describing our local family-owned company, revealing the savings you receive with Solar. Not only do we discuss the benefits of going Solar with our company, we talk about the essence of what it really means to gain Energy Independence. What’s the best part about it all? When we see homeowners have that ah-ha! moment. That’s when we know – this homeowner now understands what it means to go Solar.
When I first started working at New York State Solar Farm, I was just like you. I had no idea how Solar worked, why people made the switch, what the benefits were, the whole Solar scope – so to speak. I was actually very naïve about the whole idea of it. However, I quickly realized that there is SO much more to it than I originally thought. Now let me tell you, once you realize what’s in store once you switch to Solar, you’ll never want to look back. And boy was there a lot for me to learn, but I was ready to learn it all.
Then a year later, things changed.
My associate and I teamed up, and together, we started venturing into the world of Solar Consulting. This was on top of our duties of Lead Coordination and Lead Generation for the company. We just dived right into the entire Solar process, and when I tell you that we enjoy every minute of it, I couldn’t mean it more. This is not to say that this isn’t a tough industry to be in, especially for women like us, as we only make up 10% of the workforce for Solar companies. But guess what? 50% of New York State Solar Farm’s employees are women! And that is what keeps us going. Our passion about our role in the company and what it means to help homeowners go Solar. It’s what we live for every day.
It wasn’t until I was doing actual Solar Presentations that I started to really grasp the concept of Solar Energy and the fundamentals of Renewable Energy. At these Proposals, my associate discusses our Local Company, the System Warranty, Customer Testimonials and the SunPower Product. I discuss the Financials, Design, Tax Credits and Savings. It’s a perfect combination, as the homeowner gets the full scope of their custom-designed Solar System – from start to finish, and thereafter. My associate and I have found our true calling. We work as a team here at New York State Solar Farm and we do everything to the best of our ability to make homeowners feel comfortable, assured and supported with their decision to go Solar.
