The answer: it depends.
While the process of installing the panels is quick, the total timetable from when you sign your agreement to when your panels are up on your roof will largely depend on the speed that your local government office takes to process your application for a solar building permit. Some government offices may take a week to process and approve a permit, while others may take a month or more. The speed will largely depend on how busy your local office is when the request is submitted.
Once the permit is approved, installation may begin. Installing solar panels on a residential or commercial building is a relatively quick process that can take anywhere from two to four days to be completed, depending on the size of the building. Once the panels are up, an inspection with the local building department must be scheduled to ensure the project is compliant with all local regulations. A representative from the utility company will perform a final inspection of your panels to certify that your new system can be connected to the grid. Scheduling this inspection and receiving approval can take anywhere from 30 to 45 days following the completion of installation. Upon receipt of confirmation from the utility company, all we have to do is activate your system and you’re ready to go.
